Today Was The Best Day Ever!!!

A few weekends ago, we went to the Bridgen Fair.  The company Clay works for was doing helicopter rides there.  Noah loves to go up in them and was so excited when he got to go for 2 rides, and sit up front with Randy on the first flight!

I splattered the background with some Color Shine and some Dylusions

Next I added details like the hand stitching, and cutting the camera from some patterned paper and using a pop dot behind it.  And as usual, sequins lol.

I added some more hand stitching here, and mixed up the title with different fonts.

Today I wanted to share with you a simple technique that adds texture and dimension to your layout.  

First I take my patterned paper and cut it into even strips.  Next I adhere it on some cardstock.  Then I use my fingers and roll up the edge of each strip.

Because my background is so bold and busy, I opted for a simple title and painted the colour resist Alphas with watercolour paint.

Have I mentioned how glad I am that rub ons are making a comeback, and in gold!!!

I painted my veneer hearts with watercolour paint, to somewhat match the colour paper they were sitting on.

I just love this photo!  I found it in a box of older photos I already had printed.  I have been on a mission to use some of them up on my scrapbook pages. Noah was so excited when Clay put him in the helicopter at work!

A Night At The Hanger

Its getting crazy busy at the hubby's work right now.  He is an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer / Director of Maintenance  for Zimmer Air Services.  Right now they are in the middle of spraying corn crops in Ontario.  This means long hours at work, and an hour drive to and from work. 

 Last night I packed up the kids and some food to BBQ and drove out there.  Here are some photos of our night!

Broke Helicopter

Here is another photo  I came across of Noah from 2009! He is about 10 months old in this photo.  We decided we would surprise Clay at work for lunch that day.  I loaded up Noah and our dog Molly in the truck, and off we went on the hour long drive to the hanger to see daddy!  Noah was so excited when we got there, because he loves helicopters as much as his daddy! He got to sit in the chopper Clay was fixing and had a blast.  I remember he was so upset when we had to leave.....  Fast forward to today - Noah is now 3 and just as much of a gear head as his dad!  All he still wants to do, is fix things with Clay!

I used Prima Chalk Ink in Cold Ice to ink the left side, 

then added a few brads to finish it off

I used the EK Success Layering Heart Punch for the heart. 

 I used my Mister Hueys to paint the chipboard alpha's

I inked the edges of the papers with the Prima Chalk Ink 

and added some blue gems to give it a pop!

Hanging at the Hanger

It was a crazy busy summer for Clay at work and with just over an hour commute each way, and working 12 - 14hr days, I kick him out ( hahaha just kidding ) but no, really, I told him take the trailer and stay there and come home on weekends, so that's what he did.  One week it was so hot and disgustingly humid here, (with the humidex it felt like 105F) and the central air broke - Eek! , I decided that was it, and packed up the boys and our dog Molly and we went and stayed in the trailer with daddy!  They were so excited! Noah loves the hanger and all he wants to do is hang with daddy and fix helicopters!!!
