Creating A Layout From Start To Finish...

Hello!  Today I wanted to share something with you....My friend Kristin was looking for help with her layout....She had started out with a piece of  paper and 4 basic cut out shapes of pattern paper but wasn't sure how to take it to the next level and get the layered effect she was looking for....This is where I stepped in, and I copied her cut paper, then took a photo from start to finish so she could see how I get the layers!

Warning - there are a lot of photos!

Here is the paper I started with, along with the 4 pieces of cut paper

Next I added a stamped background with my Studio Calico Chevron Stamp and Prima Chalk Ink in Old Road

Next I used my Prima Chalk Inks to edge my papers

I then glued down my papers partially on top of my stamped image

Here are the embellishments I have decided to work with

Here are some of the embellies sitting on top.../This is the idea I am going for

Here if you look close, I took the nozzle off my Mister Hueys and splattered the ink on the paper, then added my photo

Next I add my tag with journalling on it between the photo and pattern paper
(I should mention I always glue my pieces in the middle, never directly around the edges)

Next I added the Blue Chevron and the Yellow Honeycomb Washi

Here I am adding the foam Pop Dots on the back of the cardstock embellies
(this will give dimension and pop the items off the page also I am very generous when using these, on the "Times Like This piece, there are 4 squares under it)

Here is a close up 

Next I add some flair

I take my scissors and cut a journal sticker

I stick the journal sticker just under the paper

Here I used this sequin and put a brad through it
(these sequins are my all time favourite!!! I need these in every colour!)

I use this tab, write my date on and tuck it under the woodgrain paper

I have added a glittered brad here

Here I have added a jewel

I am getting ready to add my title...I always put my stickers on a clear plastic ruler first so I can move my title around and get it exactly where I want it.
( TIP - I always add either Aleenes Tacky Glue or Glossy Accents to the back of my Thickers or  other bulky letter stickers to help them stay on)

Here is what I ended up with, BUT I felt something was missing...

So I grabbed some scrap paper, veneer stars & an arrow, Stickles, and a Bic Marker

And here is the finished product!

Welcome to Part 2 of me playing catch up with posting all my layouts lying around my scraproom! This is another "photo heavy" post.....so I will keep the words to a minimum... I made these layouts using the ends of 2 Studio Calico Kits 1) Daydream Believer & 2) Story Hour.....

Catching Up

Hello everyone!!!! I am up with a new blog post today with several layouts.  I will warn you in advance that there is a lot of photos, so I will keep the text to a minimum.  These layout were made using mostly Studio Calico's Daydream Believer kit.  Last month I took I took Studio Calico's Pop Off The Page class, and all I can say is Wow!!! I really learned a lot about layering and taking my layouts to the next level.  I want to send a big thanks to Jen Jockisch who put the class together.
