Busted

Oh my!  What a day this was.  Long story short, I turned my back for 5 minutes and this is what I came back too!  Liam & Noah got the baby powder out of the diaper bag and dumped it all over the floor.  Why?  Because the digger truck needed to dig up some snow......sigh.

I hand cut the arrow from some scraps of paper I had lying around and then used my Prima Chalk Inks to edge it.  Then I used some foam squared under it pop it off the page.  The alpha stickers are from Cosmo Cricket & Basic Grey
Here I used my Smash Date Stamp and some Washi Tape
What happens to you if you turn your back for 5 min?????

Daddy, Hold My Hand

This past summer Clay & I took the boys across the border over to the Detroit PBS Kids Fest!  Noah was so excited because he got to meet Curious George, Wyatt from Super Why, Clifford and more!  The boys got to make crafts, jump in the jumping castle and sing and dance!  This photo just warms my heart! Its Clay and Noah holding hands on their way into the festival.  I wanted to always remember his small hand in daddy's big strong hand......

I used my Fiskars Bubble Punch for the bottom of the chevron paper, the used the circles that punched out as confetti on my layout!  I drew a thin border around my layout with my black pen then painted over it with Mister Huey's Clay.
The button and the twine are from My Minds Eye, and the people are cut from the Amy Tangerine fabric borders.  I word stickers are part of the October Afternoon Farmhouse Collection
I used Studio Calico's Add On Kit - Salvaged for this layout.

Liam & His Legos

This is a layout I did of my younger son Liam.  He was playing Legos with Noah & Daddy.  The journaling reads "Liam, you love playing with Lego's so much.  When I took this photo you were playing with Daddy & Noah building helicopters!"
Here I used my Fiskars Apron Lace Punch and My Smash Date Stamp with Prima Chalk Inks
The title was made using some random Thickers from my stash
I used Marvy Uchida's Scalloped Circle Punch for the circles and my Fiskars punch for the star. The brads are from Basic Grey.
The rest of this layout was made using scraps from the end of one of my Studio Calico Kits!  Thanks for looking, and I would love to hear what you think!

Design Team Announcement

I am happy to announce that I was chosen to be a part of the Addicted to Stamps  & Scrapbook Stamp Society's Design Team! I chose Sherri Baldy's stamp - Fly Away to use as my first project.  I just love this stamp and had a lot of fun working with it.
For this card, I used pink cardstock as the background, then added this gorgeous patterned paper by DCWV over my stamped image.  I then used my Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Worn Lipstick to edge the pink part of the card and also the patterned paper.  I outlined with a fine tip black pen a border around both the pink cardstock and the stamped image.  I then painted the black outline with Mister Huey's Ink in Cameo. To colour my stamp, I used my Water Colour Pencils.
To finish off the card I used some white seam binding to make a bow.

Fly High

This past Easter, Noah received a kite from the Easter bunny.  He was so excited because it looked like an airplane.  We took it out to Grandma & Papas and flew it out in the corn field.  Noah was having so much fun with Daddy!

I used my new Fiskars Border Punch in Double Bubble to edge the blue pattern paper.
Here I used my new Fiskars Cloud Punch to make the clouds then I outlined them with my Precision Pen .01 in black. I hand cut the kite and also outlined in then put foam tabs under it to pop it off the page.  I used my Glossy Accents to hold the twine down.

For this layout I used January's Studio Calico Kit - Brooklyn Flea, and Add On Kit - Salvaged.  I also grabbed the More Patterned Paper Add On!

Jumping in the Leaves

Oh how I love the fall! I love the colours, the smell of the leaves, caramel apples and the crisp air.....This is a layout I made using Studio Calico's Glee Club Kit. It was such a nice day when I took these photos!  The sun was bright, the air was crisp, and we had more leaves than then you could imagine!  That day we bagged up 23 Lawn & Leaf bags in the backyard  and we could have done more, but we only had 23 bags to use!  That did't finish the backyard, nor did it even touch the front yard! ( the front yard took another 13 bags!!!)

The journalling on this layout reads: "Noah, you had so much fun that day....it was a crisp fall day, but the sun was shining while you Liam & Daddy went outside to rake the leaves in the backyard.  Daddy used the leaf blower and made a "mountain" for you to jump in.  At the end of the day we had something like 23 bags (and that wasn't even counting the front!)"

PS: Amy Tan, if you are reading this.....I love your Fabric Alpha's so much, that I will simply die if they ever become discontinued! (hugs)

My Favourite Toy

When my boys were both younger, this was one of their favourite toys!  Its Infantino's Activity Triangle. They loved all the little bits and bobs on this toy.  In my unpaid opinion (lol) I think that this is a must have for any infant.  And just in case you were wondering, it can take a ton of abuse!  With 2 boys, this toy has be tossed down stairs, dropped on cement, and used to bang other toys!
Here is a layout I did of Noah playing with this toy!
In this close up, I used my  EK Success Heart Layering punch, with a foam tab behind the smaller heart.  I then pushed 2 pins through the tab
For this layout I used Studio Calico's Glee Club Kit and Debate Team Add On Kit.  I also used Mister Huey's White to paint the white border on the Kraft background.

Also on a separate note, if your interested in having your blog redesigned, (like I just did with mine) Then check out my post below!

You & Your Bottle

This was a photo I took when Noah was younger because I always thought how he held his bottle was cute, and as a mom, I always want to remember that "little" moment.  The journaling reads " Dear Noah, Its such a "nothing thing" to most but to me the way you hold your bottle is something I will always remember. Love Mom"

I used the left over scraps from Studio Calico's Glee Club kit.  The Heart is made by using the EK Success Layering Heart Punch. To do the edging on the Bazzil Dotted Swiss Card Stock  I used my EK Success Bumpy Road.

11 Step Program for those thinking of having kids!

I found this on the internet and laughed so hard, because it is so true!  I just thought I would share with you.  (btw my life is at # 10 & 11 right now!)

Lesson 1

1. Go to the grocery store.
2. Arrange to have your salary paid directly to their head office.
3. Go home.
4. Pick up the paper.
5. Read it for the last time.

Lesson 2

Before you finally go ahead and have children, find a couple who already are parents and berate them about their...
1. Methods of discipline.
2. Lack of patience.
3. Appallingly low tolerance levels.
4. Allowing their children to run wild.
5. Suggest ways in which they might improve their child's breastfeeding, sleep habits, toilet training, table manners, and overall behavior.
Enjoy it because it will be the last time in your life you will have all the answers.

Lesson 3

A really good way to discover how the nights might feel...
1. Get home from work and immediately begin walking around the living room from 5PM to 10PM carrying a wet bag weighing approximately 8-12 pounds, with a radio turned to static (or some other obnoxious sound) playing loudly. (Eat cold food with one hand for dinner)
2. At 10PM, put the bag gently down, set the alarm for midnight, and go to sleep.
3. Get up at 12 and walk around the living room again, with the bag, until 1AM.
4. Set the alarm for 3AM.
5. As you can't get back to sleep, get up at 2AM and make a drink and watch an infomercial.
6. Go to bed at 2:45AM.
7. Get up at 3AM when the alarm goes off.
8. Sing songs quietly in the dark until 4AM.
9. Get up. Make breakfast. Get ready for work and go to work (work hard and be productive)

Repeat steps 1-9 each night. Keep this up for 3-5 years. Look cheerful and together.

Lesson 4

Can you stand the mess children make? T o find out...
1. Smear peanut butter onto the sofa and jam onto the curtains.
2. Hide a piece of raw chicken behind the stereo and leave it there all summer.
3. Stick your fingers in the flower bed.
4. Then rub them on the clean walls.
5. Take your favorite book, photo album, etc. Wreck it.
6. Spill milk on your new pillows. Cover the stains with crayons. How does that look?

Lesson 5

Dressing small children is not as easy as it seems.
1. Buy an octopus and a small bag made out of loose mesh.
2. Attempt to put the octopus into the bag so that none of the arms hang out.

Time allowed for this - all morning.

Lesson 6

Forget the BMW and buy a mini-van. And don't think that you can leave it out in the driveway spotless and shining. Family cars don't look like that.
1. Buy a chocolate ice cream cone and put it in the glove compartment.
Leave it there.
2. Get a dime. Stick it in the CD player.
3. Take a family size package of chocolate cookies. Mash them into the back seat. Sprinkle cheerios all over the floor, then smash them with your foot.
4. Run a garden rake along both sides of the car.

Lesson 7

Go to the local grocery store. Take with you the closest thing you can find to a pre-school child. (A full-grown goat is an excellent choice). If you intend to have more than one child, then definitely take more than one goat. Buy your week's groceries without letting the goats out of your sight. Pay for everything the goat eats or destroys. Until you can easily accomplish this, do not even contemplate having children.

Lesson 8

1. Hollow out a melon.
2. Make a small hole in the side.
3. Suspend it from the ceiling and swing it from side to side.
4. Now get a bowl of soggy Cheerios and attempt to spoon them into the swaying melon by pretending to be an airplane.
5. Continue until half the Cheerios are gone.
6. Tip half into your lap. The other half, just throw up in the air.

You are now ready to feed a nine- month-old baby.

Lesson 9

Learn the names of every character from Sesame Street , Barney, Disney, the Teletubbies, and Pokemon. Watch nothing else on TV but PBS, the Disney channel or Noggin for at least five years. (I know, you're thinking What's 'Noggin'?) Exactly the point.

Lesson 10

Make a recording of Fran Drescher saying 'mommy' repeatedly. (Important: no more than a four second delay between each 'mommy'; occasional crescendo to the level of a supersonic jet is required). Play this tape in your car everywhere you go for the next four years. You are now ready to take a long trip with a toddler.

Lesson 11

Start talking to an adult of your choice. Have someone else continually tug on your skirt hem, shirt- sleeve, or elbow while playing the 'mommy' tape made from Lesson 10 above. You are now ready to have a conversation with an adult while there is a child in the room.

This is all very tongue in cheek; anyone who is parent will say 'it's all worth it!' Share it with your friends, both those who do and don't have kids. I guarantee they'll get a chuckle out of it. Remember, a sense of humor is one of the most important things you'll need when you become a parent

Farmer Brown & His Tractor

This is a super quick layout I made using leftovers from a Studio Calico Kit.  I used Mister Huey's to paint the white border and to paint the word Tractor. I also used my Smash Date Stamp in the bottom corner.  Have a wonderful Saturday!

Liam's Backyard Adventure

It was a warm November afternoon, and we had more leaves than you could imagine piled in the backyard! Clay, Noah & Liam headed outside to get them all raked up.  Liam was having such a good time running around chasing Noah!  For this layout I used my Fiskars Star Punch along the side, then put different pieces of patterned paper behind it and then outlined the stars.  I also Used Studio Calico's Glee Club Kit along with the Debate Team and Pep Squad Add On.
